The effectiveness of mobile augmented reality (MAR)-integrated oral health education for community-dwelling older adults.
XR Case
The pilot study explores the integration of mobile augmented reality (MAR) in oral health education for older adults living in community settings. The research tests the effectiveness of MAR tools in improving participants' oral health knowledge and self-care skills. The results suggest that the MAR system significantly enhances knowledge and self-efficacy, although the usability of the system requires improvement.
Detail
Target Audience
24 community-dwelling older adults
Methodology
MAR integrated oral health education via mobile devices (smartphone or tablet). Participants' oral health-related knowledge and self-efficacy were assessed using self-report questionnaires before and after the intervention. In addition, the usability of the MAR system was evaluated. A paired t-test was used for statistical analysis to compare the results before and after the intervention.
Outcome
The study found a significant increase in participants’ oral health-related knowledge and self-efficacy after the MAR-based education.
